We all hear about green-washing, the practice of marketing items as green or natural when in fact they are not. I call that deceptive, but as the money pours in to the companies that green-wash, they don’t really care. It’s up to consumers to become more aware of ingredients and reading labels to weed out those impostors.
October is “Think Pink” month for breast cancer awareness and what is rapidly becoming “Pink-washing” month as companies are at it again. Some of the ingredients of these “Think Pink”, “support breast cancer” products actually contain chemicals linked to breast cancer! So, again, it’s up to the consumers to read the labels and avoid those toxic ingredients, until the government mandates some “truth in labeling” laws for numerous industries.
