A Workshop on Green and Locavore

On Wednesday I hosted a workshop in Charleston, SC for the Professional Association of Innkeepers International (PAII).  I did not expect a very large attendance as innkeepers are not known as energy savers or greenies and was pleasantly surprised to have the room almost full and discover over 50% of the attending innkeepers operated Green inns and were Locavore inns!  A Locavore, if you do not know, is someone who purchases locally produced food products usually within a 100-150 mile radius.  This means less energy used to transport food which normally travels about 1500 miles before reaching its destination and supporting the local economy.

Everyone was great and there were lots of good questions and topics brought up for more discussion.  I felt my workshop was a success in that most attendees will probably take another step forward on their green journey. I look forward to holding more workshops in the future to “spread the word”!
