…On the fourth day of Christmas my green friend gave to me…four stainless straws..three pairs of socks…two recycled pallets…and a new electric car!
I couldn’t even begin to tell you how many plastic straws I have picked up on the beach over the years! There have been a lot of those smaller straws that are attached to those disposable drink pouches only to be outnumbered by the larger straws from large cups. Many of those straws are still secured in the “X” on the plastic top. My green friend and I were so happy when cities and counties began to ban plastic straws! However many of those bans have already been rescinded due to protests from the public…obviously those folks don’t walk on the beach to see the straws littering the shoreline!
I had seen many alternative like silicone straws, bamboo straws and stainless steel straws but had not bought any. I always refused a plastic straw at a restaurant instead of carrying my own. On this fourth day of a Green Christmas my green friend gifted me four EcoTribe stainless steel straws which I will now use often!
I plan to keep one in my car, two in my home and one in my travel kit! Did I mention how much I love the bamboo storage cases? I also like knowing the company donates a percentage of their profits to support marine conservation and preserve our environment. If you haven’t tried reusable straws yet maybe 2020 will be the year you make the change?
Thank you for reading my post and please join me tomorrow for the Fifth Day of a Green Christmas! If you’re curious about the history of the Twelve Days of Christmas you can find that here. Join me tomorrow and see what my Green Friend gifts me…I’m sure it will be fun, educational, useful or possibly edible!
