Pick The Right Plant For The Right Place

For all my gardening friends who are enjoying this cooler weather (interspersed with some really warm days) and who are hard at work in their gardens again, here is a wonderful plant guide from Fine Gardening for selecting plants.  You can narrow the plant results by searching by color, placement, characteristics, trees, shrubs, perennials, tolerance, light, height, spread and so on.  This is a great guide to find choices for exactly what you want or need.

  1. Plant lists are good as references and guidelines. However, ANY plant, as long as it isn’t an exotic invasive, can be “Florida Friendly.” Right Plant-Right Place is the mantra. Don’t plant a sun-loving plant in the shade nor, a shade-loving plant in the sun. Don’t plant a plant that grows 15 ft. tall as a hedge that you want to keep at 4 feet. So on and so forth……….
Always match the plant to the site; don’t try to change the site to match a plant that you might fancy, that is expensive!
Here are a couple of other links for all to explore.
