Fluoride on the Shelves

While in Target the other day I could not help but notice the big sign “2 for $4.00” on these packs of drinking water.  What a deal?  Not hardly!  I looked at the face of a child with the claims of how wonderful fluoride is for tooth decay and children.  With so much focus on the effects of fluoride on children I guess the manufacturers of drinking water need to get ride of their inventory with great sales!  That seems “responsible” don’t you think?

While the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) would have us all believe that fluoride is perfectly safe, scientists from the EPA’s National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory have classified fluoride as a “chemical having substantial evidence of developmental neurotoxicity“.

Not only in drinking water, but fluoride is in toothpastes, processed cereals, infant formula, sodas, juice, domestic wines, beers brewed with fluoridated water, pesticides and so on.  You can also check CDC’s site here to find out if your community adds fluoride to your water.

The Fluoride Action Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating consumers about the health risks of fluoride.  There is a host of information on the website and information if you want to take action in your community.  You can also read about studies that have shown the toxic effects and the links to so many conditions many of us already have from over-fluoridation.
