New “low-tech” building construction in Arizona

Step-Tech construction

Last week while in Phoenix, AZ I was offered a unique opportunity to view the early stages of construction of a new, “low-tech” energy efficient home in Chandler, Arizona.  The tour was organized by my friend and colleague Gail Johnson, a leading Green Broker in Phoenix, AZ.

The setting amongst mature Saguaro cacti, Palo Verde trees and a gorgeous Arizona sky cast a vibrant glow on the skeleton of this 7,000 square foot house. Constructed with a relatively new process called “STEP-Tech”, Structural Thermal Envelope Panel Technology, the founders of the company and developers of the technology conducted an informative tour and slide presentation.  Although the picture is not the best image of the product, it does give you a glimpse of the building system.
