The Department of Energy debuted a “Home Energy Score” last week to help homeowners rate their homes somewhat like autos with their mpg stickers. As a Board Director and member of the Retrofit Standards Task Force of FGBC (Florida Green Building Coalition), one of our current projects is developing a Retrofit Standard that would be available in Florida. Ratings like these as well as “sustainable” data fields in real estate multiple listing services make it easier for consumers searching for low energy usage and healthier homes.
